Camilla Skovgaard London Lace-up Oxford Ankle Boot
I am intrigued by the Camilla Skovgaard London A9007 ankle boot with the wrap-around ankle detail.
At first glance, they reminded me of the Balenciaga 2006 harness boots that were so popular (thanks in large part to Mary Kate Olson) – which spawned the wildly popular Sam Edelman ‘Zoe’ – a silhouette that has become a staple for that shoe brand, including a recent, studded variation.

But, maybe it’s just me? The similarities are very superficial once you get down into the details. I think it’s that ankle-wrap that conjured images of the harness from Balenciaga. After all, when you look at them next to each other, the similarities are negligible. Although they both share the basic quality of having attitude to spare.
So, the details on the Skovgaard: No chunky platform (zero sole), a lace-up textural detail, and a feminine-yet-stable heel coyly hidden underneath the faux-wedge illusion of the covering ankle-wrap.
No, they’re not very similar after all. And I think I’d be much more likely to find myself reaching for the Skovgaard’s, were either of these actually in my real-world closet.
